Harmony specializes in helping students overcome the negative physical and mental effects of chronic stress and limiting beliefs by cultivating more awareness around irregular breathing patterns, which create feelings of anxiety, an inability to concentrate, and a lack of integrated mind-body connection. Yoga as the Aesthetic Experience Connected with Samadhi

Most people understand that negative thinking and violent images have a deep and lasting impact on our state of mind and actually the shape of our brain will be broadly understood. Conversely surrounding ourselves with beautiful things will also affect us. Yoga is the aesthetic experience, and can allow us to heal from pain and to rediscover the capacity for joy.

SATURDAY April 16

Morning Mysore

Afternoon Workshop:

Handstands Begin in Primary Series - 3 hours

Leaning to balance on your hands begins right from the first sun-salutation. If you want to start to build up the strength through the arms and core to practice handstands, the foundations are found right in the postures of primary series, starting with every Vinyasa – learning to jump back and jump through.

Later Afternoon:

Bhagavad Gita – Ancient Wisdom for Everyday Living - 2 hours

The Bhagavad Gita discuses four primary paths of yoga practice, and describes them as different methods for uniting with the Divine.  Jnana Yoga - the path of self-knowledge; Karma Yoga - the path of action in the world; Raja Yoga - the path of meditation; and Bhakti Yoga - the path of devotion. We will look at how each of these paths can be experienced and practiced within our day to day lives, and how each is actually an integral part of the Ashtanga Yoga method.

SUNDAY April 17

Morning Mysore

Afternoon Workshop: - 3 hours

A Gentle introduction to Second Series

Nadi Shodhana is the name given to the Second Series of the Ashtanga Yoga system. However, the first few postures of this series are classical asanas that are beneficial and accessible to every one, regardless of your level of experience.  Many benefits can be derived from learning these postures directed towards cultivating more strength in the spine and a more open and receptive heart.

Later Afternoon Workshop: - 2 hours

Where Do We Go From Here?

After practicing the external limbs of Yoga, how do we begin to enter the more esoteric Internal practices of yoga?  The ultimate goal of Yoga is to overcome the instability and dispersion of our mental landscape and learn to make our concentration one-pointed in focus. The Yoga Sutras offer some different techniques to accomplish this. We will explore how to enter the internal limbs of Yoga to lead a more compassionate and powerful life.
